U18 RiverCats Finish 2-3 In Clearwater, FL

After starting out 1-2 on day one of the MLK Preseason Blast in Clearwater, FL, the U18 RC RiverCats responded by going 1-1 on Sunday of the tournament. Overall, the RiverCats ended their first Florida trip 2-3 for a 7th place showing.
On Sunday, the RiverCats waited out a rain delay, but played flat and were defeated by the Tampa Smokers 7 to 1, the second loss of the tournament to the Smokers. Adam Grindheim-Kaukauna, WI, led the charge by scoring the only run for the ‘Cats while going 2 for 2 with 2 singles. Tyler Christensen-Oconomowoc, WI, and Adam Ryan-Mauston, WI, combined to throw three scoreless innings to finish the game.
Following the loss, the RiverCats had a 4 hour break, yet regained their winning form from Saturday by beating the St. Pete Hurricanes 5 to 3 in the 7th place game.
Ben Free-Fort Atkinson, WI, was the winning pitcher. Cody Peterson-Burlington, WI, led the charge by going 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.
The U18 RiverCats will play next in the President’s Day Challenge in Cocoa Beach, FL, February 13th through the 15th.
