2011 Rock River Youth Fall League Rules
Fall Baseball Rules
NFHS rules with the following deviations
Each game will start with 1 game ball and 3 extra balls, coaches from each team will need to retrieve foul balls.
Coaches need to report scores after each game to the on-site official.
Coaches game balls need to be returned to the Umpires after each game.
Bat Restrictions and Field Sizes
U9 and U10 – 46’ pitching distance and 60’ bases. Little League Bats
U11 and U12 – 50’ pitching distance and 70’ bases. Little League or Senior League Bats
U13 – 60’ pitching distance and 90’ bases. Senior League Bats or NFHS
U14 and U15 – 60’ pitching distance and 90’ bases. Senior League Bats or NFHS
Pitching Restrictions
For the safety of the pitchers, the Rock River Fall League has adapted the following pitching regulations that should be monitored by the coaches on that field.
U9 and U10 – Pitchers will be allowed the following pitch counts for the day: 45 pitches or 3 innings.
Pitchers may not start a batter after 45 pitches, or pitch more than 3 innings.
U11 and U12 – Pitchers will be allowed the following pitch counts for the day: 45 pitches or 3 innings.
Pitchers may not start a batter after 45 pitches, or pitch more than 3 innings.
U13 and U14, U15 – Pitchers will be allowed the following pitch counts for the day: Week 1 and 2: 45 Pitches or 3 innings. Pitchers may not start a batter after 45 pitches, or pitch more than 3 innings. Weeks 3 through 5: 55 pitches or 4 innings. Pitchers may not start a batter after 55 pitches, or pitch more than 4 innings.
Ex: If pitchers throws only 24 pitches, but completes three full innings, he must be removed from the pitching position. If pitcher throws 45 pitches but only completes 2 innings, he must also be removed from the pitching position. Also, if pitcher throws only 8 pitches in the first inning, but throws 31 pitches in the second inning, he must be removed from the pitching position.
Batting Order
Continuous Batting order may be used, or a lineup with an EH may be used.
Spikes
U9, U10, U11, U12 – No metal spikes allowed
U13 and U14, U15 – Any type of spike is allowed.
Courtesy runners
Allowed for catchers with 2 out in the inning (last out)
Game length
6 innings or no new inning to start after 1hour and 30 minutes for U9, U10, U11, and U12. Drop dead at 1:45.
7 innings or no new innings to start after 1:50 minutes for U13 and U14.
All Games should begin within 20 minutes of previous game ending.
Tie breaker
California Tie Breaker:
Each half inning will start with the bases loaded and one (1) out. Each team will continue the batting order from the previous inning, with the three (3) previous batters occupying the bases, with the last batter occupying 1st base, the next to last batter occupying 2nd base and the 3rd batter occupying 3rd base. The game will continue until a winner is determined.
Example: The game ends in a 4-4 tie. The visiting team determines the #4 batter is due up. The team will put the #3 batter on first, the #2 batter on 2nd, and the #1 batter on 3rd. There will be one out in the inning and both teams will play like this until a winner is decided.
